Why Recycling Baling Wire Is So Important

Why Recycling Baling Wire Is So Important

Baling wire is essential when it comes to the waste recycling industry as they securely transport bales to recycling facilities. Due to the trash recycling industries are dealing with such a wide variety of different amounts of raw materials, so a wide array of types of baling wire are needed to cover every use case. The wires themselves are then supposed to be recycled. It is a common misconception that isn’t necessary. On the contrary, it is critical that you do so.

In this article, the experts here at Vulcan Wire will explain why it’s so important to recycle all used baling wire.

If your business needs quality parts to replace damage to your baler, then parts are available for the Accent 470 Wire Tier, Accent 330 Wire Tier (formerly Leggett & Platt – L&P) and Accent 340 Wire Tier (formerly Leggett & Platt – L&P).

How Is Baling Wire Used?

Manufacturing companies produce an enormous amount of waste. This waste has to be transported somewhere. It’s simply not practical to haul all of the waste loose, rolling around and potentially creating bigger messes in transport. Whether it’s cardboard, paper, metals, or plastics, balers help organize and pack all of this junk into efficient cubes that can be easily transported to the recycling center. Simple enough, right?

The problem comes into play when companies don’t then recycle the used wire as well. It may seem as though it’s obvious that if the wire can be used once, then it can be used again, but common sense does not come freely to everybody.

Why Should I Care?

Over the past few decades, as the world began to realize just how much needless waste it was producing, more and more companies have begun to take responsibility for their actions. All over the world, they have to strongly push for greater recycling efforts. Why though? It is not just altruism fueling these decisions, as it’s very practical for these businesses as well.

The following are just some of the reasons why it’s not just good for the environment, but in the best interest of the companies as well.

Endless Reuse

Unlike things like wood and some plastics, metal is almost universally something that can be used over and over again. It is one of the very few raw materials that do not lose its original properties over time as it’s repeatedly reshaped and used for different purposes. The value of this metal doesn’t decrease, meaning that something made of a metal of a particular value will be just as valuable in one form as it will be in the next.

Saves Production and Energy Costs

It always takes more than one thing to produce something in a factory, no matter how simple it is. Even if it’s as simple as some metal pressed into a particular shape, the machine doing that still needs to be powered by electricity, which is of course generated by various other resources like coal. By reusing existing material, you’re saving on energy and raw material costs that would otherwise be spent creating more of what you’re recycling instead.

Reduces Emissions

Nowadays, many companies and even government recycling mandates have become very strict, some adopting even a “zero to landfill” policy. Failing to meet these targets will hurt profits and waste resources as mentioned before, as well as have an adverse effect on the climate and the planet’s atmosphere. It can be easy to forget that we’re all breathing the same air and that everything we put out into the atmosphere has to go somewhere – it doesn’t just vanish into space.
